Reactive Lymphocytes
Reactive or atypical lymphocytes are enlarged, activated T cells responding to viral infection or other antigenic stimulation. They are classically seen in infectious mononucleosis (EBV) and also appear with CMV, viral hepatitis, HIV seroconversion, toxoplasmosis, and drug reactions. Quantity and morphology help guide further workup.
Optimal range: who says what
No institution or named practitioner we track states an optimal target for Reactive Lymphocytes. How we verify ranges.
- General guidance, no named sourceAbsentNormally absent outside viral illness
- Lab reference interval0-3% of WBCWhat a lab report flags against. A lab interval is not an optimal target.

Why Reactive Lymphocytes matters
Often elevated in viral infections like mononucleosis (EBV), CMV, hepatitis, and other viral illnesses. These activated immune cells indicate the body is mounting an immune response to infection.
Which Providers Test Reactive Lymphocytes?
Of the panels we itemize, only Empirical Health ($190/year, 100+ biomarkers) includes Reactive Lymphocytes.
1 panel that includes it, cheapest first
| Provider | Annual Cost | Total Biomarkers | $/Biomarker |
|---|---|---|---|
| $190 | 100+ | $1.90 |
$/Biomarker is annual cost divided by the panel's advertised biomarker count, not the price of this one test. We track 23 blood test providers (32 plans); 21 of those plans are itemized marker by marker. Compare all of them.
